Truth be told, Big Time Gaming’sMegaclustersengine, which has been licensed to other developers as well, hasn’t really taken off as much as we thought it would when we first laid eyes onStar Clusters Megaclusters. It’s still a far cry from the mega success of their Megaways engine, to put it mildly, but Millionaire Rush Megaclusters might just be the release that finally does something about that.
The branded gameshow concept is immediately recognizable by the masses, and the Megatrail™ feature ladder is a very welcome breath of fresh air that meshes perfectly with the megacluster reactions you get in abundance at all times. Climbing the Megatrail™ triggers a highly unpredictable set of modifiers that changes per round, as well as the bonus round on rung 7 and a top prize up to 1,000x on rung 12. The55,260x potentialis massive, and taking this one for a spin was a pure joyride.
You need5+ matching symbolsin a cluster anywhere on the grid to win. The gemstone symbols pay between 0.5 and 1 x your stake for 5 in a cluster, and 30 to 50 x your stake for 25+ in a cluster. The‘w’ Wild symbolcan appear anywhere, and it steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete and/or improve winning clusters.
TheReactions mechanictriggers on each win, and it first replaces each winning symbol with 4 smaller and randomly chosen symbols. If the smaller symbols create a winning cluster, the winning symbols are removed and replaced by a new random batch of symbols. The grid maxes out at 100 positions, and the reactions go on as long as you keep winning.
TheMegatrailseen on the left comes with12 rungs, and each rung contains a modifier, feature or blank. The top rung always comes with arandom cash prize up to 1,000xin the base game, and reaching rung 7 always awards the bonus round. The first rung is always empty, and the amount of modifiers, and their respective positions on the Megatrail, vary per round.
Each consecutive Reactions win takes you one step up the Megatrail, and you start all over again for each new round. You’re guaranteed at least 3randomly placed modifierson the trail per round, in addition to the fixed feature and prize as described above. Below is an overview of what you can expect:
The Bonus Round triggers when you reach the 7th rung on the Megatrail, and this awards6 free spins. The top rung prize can now go as high as 2,000x your stake, and you’re guaranteed at least 6 random modifiers on the Megatrail per free spin. Reaching rung 7 again during the feature awards+3 extra free spins. The bonus round starts after all modifiers have played out, and the number of total free spins is capped at 99.
We had a very good time testing Millionaire Rush Megaclusters, as we’ve been fans of the concept from the start. We have created a relatively brief and edited highlights video for you as usual, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
The Megatrail is exactly what is needed to lift the Megaclusters concept to the next level, and catapult it into mainstream popularity. The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire branding might help in that regard, but it’s hardly essential when it comes to the entertainment value contained in Millionaire Rush Megaclusters. The gemstone symbols may come across as a tad generic by now, but it’s forgivable when the rest of the game is so exciting.
Not only do you get a vast amount of potential modifier combinations per round, but the randomness of it adds a layer of unpredictability to each round that we enjoyed. The reactions are as satisfying to behold as ever, and the55,260x potential (33,050x in the base game)is certainly massive enough. There’s hardly a boring moment in this game, and it has the potential to go totally mental when you get into the right flow (or should we say ‘rush’).
Pros
Cons
Star Clusters Megaclusters- is the release where BTG introduced us to their innovative Megaclusters engine for the first time, and it comes with a similar gemstone-infused presentation. The gameplay revolves around reactions, and you’ll benefit from a progressive multiplier wild that never resets in the bonus round.
Cyberslot Megaclusters- is the second installment in a BTG range that has struggled a bit to break properly through into the mainstream. The gameplay is pretty barebones compared to the installment at hand, but you get at least one roaming wild per spin, and the wild multiplier increases per reaction win it’s part of. This can lead to payouts up to 30,000x your stake.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Megapays- is BTG’s progressive jackpot version of their popular original Megaways release, and you get dynamic reels with up to 117,649 win ways also here. The Hot Seat pre-game allows you to gamble for up to 50 free spins, and the uncapped progressive multiplier bonus round can lead to payouts up to 72,310x your stake.
