The first Max Megaways installment took you into the hollow mountain headquarters of the arch-villain Dr Fudge Indare, and Max Megaways 2 plays out on the surface of the moon. The lunar bases and biodomes in the backdrop are impressive to behold, and Earth can be seen in the distance as well. Big Time Gaming is following the same recipe that made the original game a success, but they have made changes to both the modifiers and the math model.
You still get 4 randomly triggered modifiers in the base game, as well as Reaction Wins, but the modifiers are somewhat different from what you get in the first installment. The bonus round plays out inside the lunar base, and you get to choose either 2 or 3 modifiers up front. You need to trigger the Enhanced feature to get 3 picks, and both bonus rounds come with a progressive win multiplier with no upper limit. Both the max win and the RTP has been increased, and the147,620x potentialis the highest of all Megaways installments to date.
The premium symbols pay between 0.5 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and theWild symbolsteps in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins. All winning symbols are removed from the grid via theReaction mechanic, and the symbols are replaced by new and/or existing symbols dropping down or sliding in on the top reel. This process repeats for as long as your winning streak lasts.
You get a bunch of random modifiers that can trigger on any given spin or reaction, and these work as follows:
You win10 free spinsfrom3 gold scattersin view, and+2 additional spinson top of thatper additional triggering scatter. TheDiamond Megascattertriggers theEnhanced Bonus Roundif it partakes in the triggering event.
You get to select2 doorsup front, and this reveals modifiers you will benefit from during the feature. You get to choose3 doorsin theEnhanced versionof the bonus round, and you get aprogressive win multiplierthat starts at x1 either way. The multiplier will boost all wins, and it never resets for as long as the bonus round lasts. Below is an overview of the possible modifiers you get from picking the doors:
You win+5 extra spinswhen you land3 scattersin the same free spin reaction sequence, or on the very same free spin, and only 2 is needed if you get the 2 Scatters Retrigger modifier. You win+5 additional spinon top of thatper additional retriggering scatterabove the minimum of 2 or 3.
TheWin Exchange and Bonus Buy featuresare available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. You canexchange a 100x win for 10 free spins, and you can alsogamble a win between 25 and 99 x your staketo possibly win10 free spins. Alternatively, you can pay75x for the regular bonus round, and200x for the enhanced version. The bonus buy RTP is 96.64 %.
You get a brief taste of the base game, before we trigger the regular bonus round at 0:26 into the 4:24-minute highlights video. We got Increased Ways and an x6 starting win multiplier from the door picks, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
The lunar base location makes for an impressive backdrop in this follow-up game, and you even get a small lunar vehicle moving around in the foreground. Other than that, Max Megaways 2 follows closely in the footsteps of the original game, but some changes have been made to both the base game and bonus round extras. It’s hard to tell whether or not these changes are for the better or for the worse, or perhaps neutral in that regard, but the math model changes are definitely positive.
The RTP has been increased a bit, clocking in at a respective 96.64 % (with no RTP ranges to worry about either), and the already solid potential has been bumpedup to 147,620x your stake. We would really appreciate if Big Time Gaming would disclose the max win probability for future releases, as it’s hard to find any reports about the potential ever being cracked on any of their games. As always, the bonus buy price reveals what kind of returns you can expect on average, but overall Max Megaways 2 is a solid second installment in this secret agent trilogy.
